The Microcom Dual Pilot Control Module (DPCM) acquires and locks to both GOES Pilot signals and utilizes one of the Pilots to control the frequency and amplitude output to downstream DigiTrak demodulators (see separate datasheets). If the primary Pilot goes down, the DPCM will automatically switch to the backup Pilot; the transition takes less than a second so message loss is minimal.
The DPCM is offered in a desktop and rack-mount version. Both types of DPCMs include an integral GPS receiver and IRIG-B timing generator to supply the DigiTrak demodulators with a highly accurate time source. Further, both the desktop and rack versions can power the antenna front-end or feed and can be connected to a host PC via a TCP/IP connection.
